To Our Loyal Donors and Supporters and the Barrington Community:
You have probably heard the disappointing news that, for a second year, the Library bond did not pass with the needed super majority. All of us who have worked so hard have had to step back and take a deep breath. But we are unbowed!
As you know, the Library Trustees and we as part of the Barrington Library Foundation are committed to bringing this vital issue to the citizens for a third time. We have an impressive communications system in place, and we will work hard to reach even more people with our message. To that end, if you know someone who has passion for a new library, please encourage them to contact me or anyone on the Trustees or Foundation. New ideas, new energy, passion and persistence are valuable qualities needed now more than ever in this endeavor.
With leadership from the Trustees in restructuring our vision for the new Library we willcontinue to solicit additional funding from sources that range from federal, state and private foundation grants and, of course, from more local businesses and individuals. Obviously, the current personal stress of the Covid-19 rampage and its effect on the economy will necessarily tailor our approach and timing.
One important element of this message is to let all members of the Barrington Community know we have heard their concerns about the scope of the project and, over the coming months, will be working with our Trustees, architect and construction manager to develop a new design that will necessarily contain some refinements and compromises of our previousplans. The Foundation will work at innovative ways of meeting with and listening to those in the community who opposed the 2020 design. All Trustee and Foundation members can assure you that it will still be a beautiful building that will meet the needs of the Town for several decades or more.
Please reach out to us via email, letter, web site contact or telephone to ask any questions or express any concerns. We need you now more than ever!
We thank you more than we can express for participating in a partnership that is unprecedented in the history of Barrington!
Roger Gingrich, Foundation President
